The redesigned 2013 CX-9 boasts an updated front fascia and sweeping aerodynamic lines born from Mazda's KODO design philosophy. A short front and rear overhang, modest wheelbase and wide sculpted fenders create the illusion of a small crossover while maximizing stability and agile handling.WATCH DEMO 0:56
Stylish wrap-around taillights and headlights, chrome dual exhaust and impressive 18- or 20-inch aluminum alloy wheels add sophistication to this versatile workhorse. An available power liftgate adds convenience to daily tasks, while available heated side mirrors and rain-sensing windshield wipers adjust to your driving needs.
Standard halogen headlights brightly illuminate the path ahead, or choose the available Bi-Xenon High-Intensity Discharge (HID) headlights and halogen fog lights for brighter, sharper illumination in all conditions.
Look before you drive. With the available rearview camera,** you can see directly behind your vehicle, including those lower blind spots where a bicycle or skateboard might be hiding. The backup sensor alerts you with increasing frequency as distance decreases between the rear bumper and an object within the detection zone.
The Mazda CX-9 boasts a spacious 7-passenger interior with leather-trimmed accents, available premium leather-trimmed seating and advanced technology that makes, “Are we there yet?” seem almost blasphemous.
Mazda has partnered with TomTom, the industry leader in navigation systems, to bring you state-of-the-art navigation, so you’ll always have the most efficient routes to your destination. The available fully integrated in-dash system with a 5.8-inch touch-screen display features intuitive voice recognition, so you can keep your eyes on the road and hands on the wheel.Download the 2013 Mazda Navigation Manual.
Crisp, immersive sound is delivered through an available 10-speaker Bose® Centerpoint® Surround Sound System with AudioPilot® ambient noise compensation technology. Connect your iPod®†† or other MP3 device with the standard USB audio input port or the auxiliary-audio input jack, and for even more tunes on the go, Mazda CX-9 offers available HD Radio, Pandora® Internet radio connectivity and SiriusXM Satellite Radio.‡‡ With the optional Rear-Seat Entertainment System, passengers can enjoy videos on the go with the 9" LCD screen.WATCH DEMO 0:41

The CX-9's powerful 273-hp 3.7L 24-valve DOHC V6 engine delivers 270 lb-ft of torque and up to an EPA-estimated 24 MPG on the Highway†. The 6-speed electronically controlled Sport automatic transmission features a separate manual-shift mode for added control. Front-wheel drive models have a standard 2,000 lb towing capacity, or get up to 3,500 lb of towing capacity*** with all-wheel drive or the available Towing Prep Package.
With a tight turning radius and agile handling, the CX-9 is surprisingly light on its feet–especially for a 7-passenger SUV. The MacPherson strut front suspension, multilink rear suspension and stabilizer bars work together to conquer even the most challenging roads while delivering superior ride comfort. To help increase safety and handling in snow, rain or rugged terrain, the available Active Torque Split All-Wheel Drive system uses multiple sensors to continuously monitor the road and actively distribute power to the front and rear wheels as needed.WATCH DEMO 0:57
Having the utility and versatility of an SUV doesn't mean you'll need to sacrifice fuel economy. Mazda CX-9 front-wheel drive models achieve an EPA-estimated 17 city/24 Highway MPG,† while all-wheel drive models get an EPA-estimated 16 MPG in the city and an EPA-estimated 22 Highway MPG.‡
Safety is integral. That’s why every CX-9 is engineered with these standard safety features:
With an intelligent body structure and intuitive safety technologies, the CX-9 is built to protect. “Triple H” construction, high tensile steel reinforcements, additional spot welds and side-impact door beams improve structural rigidity and strength without adding extra weight. Six standard airbags,‡‡‡ including advanced front and front side-impact airbags and fast-inflating air curtains, help protect the driver and passengers in the event of a collision. Should the airbags deploy, standard E911 notification uses Bluethooth® and your paired phone to call 911 automatically.
You can’t always see every car on the road, so the available class-leading Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) System**** is here to help. It uses motion-detecting technology to scan your blindspots. If it detects a vehicle in your blindspot when you initiate a turn signal, it sounds a warning chime and illuminates an icon in the corresponding side-view mirror.
